Teacher Workshop Schedule


Our mission is to support educators in their quest to provide quality instruction to elementary, middle, and high school mathematics students. Our intent is to provide experiences to deepen mathematical understandings and to supply lessons that could be implemented in K-12 classrooms.

At the state level, here are some events that may interest you:

Arizona Department of Education New Mathematics Standards – Professional Development Opportunities – Face 2 Face

 

Standards Based Math Stations K-3                                                         (8:30-3:30pm)          6/5              Cost $60

This training will focus on the conceptual understanding of number in grades K-3 through implementation of standards-based math stations. Mathematical practices and Arizona Mathematics Standards will be embedded throughout the day. Participants will receive a copy of Math Work Stations by Debbie Diller.

 

The learning goals of this training will include:

• Development and implementation of appropriate math stations

• Discussing the development of mathematical understandings in K-3

• Managing and assessing student progress

• Exploring meaningful mathematical tasks with an emphasis on addition, subtraction, and beginning multiplication.

 

Planning for the New Math Standards for Coaches and Leaders   (8:30-3:30pm)            6/5        Cost $0

This full-day professional development for coaches, curriculum directors, and administrators will assist in planning for the implementation of Arizona Math Standards, adopted 2016.

Participants will:

•Review and design models of implementation of the Arizona Math Standards for SY2017-2018 and SY2018-2019.

•Understand how the components in the Summary of Revisions and Planning Guide can influence planning, instruction and assessment.

•Discuss systemic professional development plans including content, pedagogy and a balanced assessment system with a focus on Tier 1 instruction.

•Devise a school-wide and community communication plan related to the Arizona Math Standards.

This training will focus on extending the understanding of number in grades 3-5 through standards-based math stations. Mathematical practices and Arizona Mathematics Standards will be embedded throughout the day.

 

The learning goals of this training will include:

•Creating and implementing appropriate math stations

•Extending the mathematical understandings in 3-5

•Managing and assessing student progress

•Exploring meaningful mathematical tasks
